Hi! My name is Maeve (they/them pronouns), and if you’ve stumbled across my website, I can only assume you’re a model horse hobby enthusiast too!
I’ve been collecting since I was a child, starting with Schleich models I kept in a big plastic tote under my bed. I slowly graduated to Breyer models, starting with ‘Kennebec Count’ and expanding from there.
Now I mainly focus on collecting resins, but still grab the occasional Stone or Breyer! My collection seems to grow every time I look at it, and I particularly enjoy having a diverse range of painters in my collection to celebrate the amazing artistry we have in the hobby!
Within the hobby I enjoy showing, both photo showing and live showing, photography (although I’ll be the first to admit I’m not very good at it), writing about the hobby, and delving deep into hobby history, particularly reading about hobby drama from the near and distant past. I know it might seem like a silly thing to be interested in, but I find it fascinating to track the things and themes that have sparked drama over the decades, and to see how the priority of things has changed so much over the history of the hobby! I am also hugely passionate about accessibility within the hobby, and believe that as a hobby we should be open to everyone.
Outside of the hobby, I live with my incredibly supportive hobby partner Tim, a chaotic Labrador Retriever named Hazel, three snakes, and a turtle in Sydney, Australia. I have a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Asian Studies and a minor in Creative Writing, and I’m currently studying my Master of Autism.
I’m autistic, which is why you’ll often find me infodumping on instagram about random subjects that no one else cares about, and physically disabled, which is why you’ll find me yelling about wheelchair accessibility in show halls.
